Big Changes vs Small Improvements...
In setting my goals for the year ahead, I am trying to strike a healthy balance between big changes and small improvements.

I have learnt that too many big, hairy, audacious goals can become overwhelming and distract us from the day to day, and nothing but incremental improvements can leave us unmotivated and at risk of hitting a plateau.

Even better are well formulated big goals broken down into many smaller improvements - breaking down a big goal such as ‘becoming healthy in 2019’ into smaller goals of, say, meditation, simple exercise, mindfulness, and simple diet changes.

Obviously each of the smaller goals will need a plan and better definition - ‘simple exercise’ becomes ‘establish a daily walking routine that builds up to 30 minutes of speed walking every day’ - but you get the gist.

If you have a track record of hitting the bullseye on big goals then stick with that, but if you are like the rest of us, maybe small steps are the best way forward…
